Top Insurance Job: Medical Claims Manager in Kansas City, MO
If you have at least five years of experience as a medical claims manager, take a look at this position inKansas City,Missouri.
You’ll be overseeing the claims payment workflow as well as the servicing process for all medical programs that are administered by claims operations. You’ll be responsible for the oversight of and the personnel who work in the administration, auditing/plan building, customer service, and claims examining departments.
You should have a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field and, in addition to the five years of medical claims management experience mentioned above, you’ll need at least 10 years of medical claims processing experience, preferably with PPOs and self-funded groups.
You’ll be working in one of theMidwest’s liveliest and loveliest of cities. Kansas City (often known as KC by locals and visitors), is located at the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri rivers, right on the State of Missouri’s western border.
It’s known for its massive contribution to jazz music and the blues and it’s known around the world for its Kansas City-style barbecue.
The yearly average temperature is in the mid-50s. You should be prepared for cold winters (the average temperature in the coldest month of January is 31 degrees). Summers can be humid, with an average temperature of 81 degrees (yet temps of 100-plus are not unheard of).
Kansas Cityis also located in what has become known as “Tornado Alley,” with the infamous “string” of tornados that hit the area in 2003 staying fresh in the minds of residents for more than decade.
Yet there definitely is plenty to recommendKansas City. Its more than 240 (or so) neighborhoods can give the metropolitan area a real small-town feel. Downtown itself is undergoing major redevelopment, with new apartments, condos, offices, and nightspots (particularly in what is known as The Power & Light District) providing a vibrant mix of restaurants, shops and – of course! – jazz, blues and barbecue spots.
Music venues are scattered throughout Kansas City, but most of them will be found in the Westportentertainment district. Jazz lovers will want to visit the 18th and Vine area.
Professional sport fans can enjoy watching the Kansas City Chiefs (football) and the Kansas City Royals (baseball).
The city is known for its beautiful parks, from Loose Park (known for its gorgeous rose gardens); to Shawnee Mission Park (the largest in all of Missouri), with its terrific 11-mile Mill Creek Streamway Trail; to English Landing Park in nearby Parkville, which is located along the Missouri River, offering visitors gorgeous river views along the river walking trail; and more.
Housing is inexpensive inKansas City. City government reports that the median price for a single-family home is $139,000, with median rental costs at $730 a month.
