7 Ways To Switch Up Your Remote Work Routine
Most people enjoy working from home. It gives them a lot more flexibility. But even in this environment, you can get into a well-worn routine. If you find your work is becoming more than a little tiresome and tedious, here are a few ways to break out of the grind and renew your enthusiasm and energy.
1. Change your work location to a coffee shop
Just moving to a new location to work can give you a boost of energy and motivation. Coffee shops can provide a comfortable and pleasant place to work. You are among other people who are working, which can help put you in the right frame of mind.
2. Use other work locations
There are other places you can try out as well, such as libraries, community centers, even restaurants.
Use whatever location works best for you. A library would certainly fit the bill if you require a quiet place to work. But if you find the hustle and bustle of other people going about their activities to be energizing, the other locations might work better for you.
3. Split up your workday
Split up your workday into blocks of time with a break for other activities in between. For example, you can put in a few hours in the morning and then take a break to go to the gym or go for a walk or go to a museum or some other activity. And then you can return and put in another block of time before taking a similar break.
4. Change the music
If you listen to music while you work, change the soundtrack. Try a different genre or different artists.
5. Reward yourself
During the day, set small goals for yourself and then give yourself a little reward when you achieve them. For example, if you have paperwork to file, reward yourself with a coffee break when you complete the task.
6. Go outside
The nice thing about working remotely is the flexibility it offers. Take advantage of this by going outside occasionally for a short walk to break from your work. This will help to reinvigorate you.
7. Work at a standing desk
Sitting for long periods of time is not ideal for a person’s health. Standing while working can actually help improve your health in a number of ways– it helps to control your weight and blood pressure, helps with circulation, and can help prevent chronic pain and inflammation.
