Insurance Top Job: Account Manager in San Francisco

It’s a dream for many people: to be able to live and work in San Francisco.

If you have five to 10 years’ experience as an account manager within the insurance industry, then you’ll want to check out this terrific direct-hire opportunity as a commercial lines account manager in the town sometimes known as the Paris of the West.

As the account manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of your new employer’s “largest and most complex accounts.” Which include non-profits. In addition to the five to 10 years’ experience noted above, you also must have a current P & C License.

Your annual salary will be between $75,000-$90,000.

But let’s get to the fun part: your new home town. San Francisco is known the world over for its culture, its natural beauty, its cable cars, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, its piers, its great seafood,  Chinatown, shopping, art, theater, and the more than 50 steep hills on which it stands (Nob Hill and Russian Hill are two of the most famous).

It’s also within a (relatively) quick drive across the Golden Gate Bridge to the natural beauty of Marin County, home to Sausalito, Mill Valley and great hiking on Mt. Tamalpais.

To the east lies Oakland and Berkeley, home to the world-famous University of California, Berkeley, arguably one of the top institutions of higher learning in the country, if not the world.

San Francisco offers what is known as a cool-in-the-summer Mediterranean climate (although the fog for which it’s notorious can keep it cold through June or even July), with quite-cool winters (the fog, remember). Temperatures reach higher than 75 degrees only about 28 days a year on average. Yet if you love heat, you need only head over to Oakland or south to San Jose to enjoy summer temperatures near or over 100 degrees.

For all of its hills, San Francisco is quite a walkable city. Walk through Chinatown and head for the city’s famous wharf and piers. Amble northwest to its bayside tourist area and eat at Pier 39 (and watch the city’s famous sea lions bask in the sun). Walk south and uphill toward the Presidio (once an army base, now a park with spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Pacific Ocean). Keep walking to the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco (the de Young and the Legion of Honor). Head east and downhill now to Union Square and the many high-end department stores and shops. Don’t forget to visit North Beach (home of the Beat movement and Haight-Ashbury (where the Hippie movement is said to have gotten its start), now gentrified and full of eclectic antique and vintage shops, bookstores, great music and food.
