Work Comp Claims Specialist

It’s time to join an innovative, national workers’ comp risk management company that provides exceptional customer service and delivers results. If you love a good company culture and the ability to manage a full desk with a case load ranging anywhere from 100 to 150 cases this is the position for you.  The Work Comp Claims Specialist will specialize in managing complex cases and will be responsible for staying connected with all parties involved in the claims process. This is a full time, temporary position where there is opportunity for temp to hire and the salary will be based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate and determine outcome of Lost Time Workers’ Compensation claim
  • Responsible for reviewing and resolving problems while responding to inquiries from all parties involved in the claims process
  • Establish reserves and authorize payments within authority limits
  • Manage litigation process and negotiate settlements as needed
  • Develop and maintain timely plan and diary documentation for internal and external parties
  • Manage return-to-work plan with injured worked and employer
  • Continue to keep injured worker and client up-to-date on key changes and progress with the claim process


  • 3+ years’ experience managing a full desk of work comp claims for the state of Virginia
  • Knowledge of the full claims process a must
  • Experience dealing with claims for government entities preferred
  • College degree preferred
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Computer literate and technology savvy
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Analytical with ability to work independently
